Result codes after exams: what they mean and what to do next

Last checked . Stellenbosch publishes its result terms and transcript remarks in the University Yearbook 2026, Part 1 (General Rules).

Result or remark Meaning What to do next
Pass / Pass with Distinction Final mark of at least 50 (pass) or 75 (distinction). Nothing.
Fail Final mark below 50. Check your faculty's rules on repeating the module or using a further assessment opportunity.
Duly Completed / Not Duly Completed Outcome for modules that are completed or not completed, without a mark. If not completed, ask your faculty what you need to redo.
IAA Insufficient assessment products available. Replaces the old "Incomplete". Repeat the module.
Further assessment pending A further assessment opportunity is still to be written or marked. Prepare for it and watch your SUNStudent notices.
Result pending The Credit and Decisions Committee (CDC) has not decided yet. Wait for the decision and check your email.
Result revoked The result was withdrawn. Contact your faculty office.
Prerequisite not met A prerequisite module was not passed. Pass the prerequisite first.
A2, A3, A4, DCA Assessment opportunities. A3 is the second opportunity (you get at least three clear days' notice and can opt to improve a pass within 48 hours). A4 runs in January and February for certain modules. DCA is a dean's concession. Follow the notice SU sends you.

Readmission after unsuccessful studies

"Supplementary", "special exam", "absent", "deferred" and "promoted" are not defined as general SU transcript remarks in Part 1, so we have not listed them. Know the codes Stellenbosch uses? Tell the next student: answer or ask in the Q&A.
