Closing soon

- SU's own funding application (SUFO) is separate and required for NSFAS students. Last year's window for prospective students ran 1 October to 30 November, so check now whether the 2027 window is open.
- Residence placement results are finalised by 31 October, with status confirmed in early November. See Residences below.
Funding: NSFAS and SU funding
- Apply for NSFAS on the myNSFAS portal. Household income up to R350,000 a year qualifies for bursary funding. R350,001–R600,000 may be offered the "missing middle" loan. Funding is limited, so apply early. Source: EWN report, 22 Sept 2026 · News report
- NSFAS contact centre: 0800 067 327, info@nsfas.org.za. SU does not run NSFAS selection.
- All NSFAS applicants and NSFAS-funded students must also apply every year for SU funding opportunities (SUFO). SU uses it to top up gaps NSFAS doesn't cover.
- Bursary and funding questions: SU Client Services 021 808 9111, or log a ticket on the service desk portal. The Centre for Undergraduate Bursaries and Loans is in the Admin A building, Ryneveld Street.

- Documents: write your initials, surname, student number and target programme on every page of your supporting documents.
- Decision: the Readmission Appeals Committee's decision is final; no further application is considered.
