In 2026, South African citizens and permanent residents had to make a first payment of R9 340 before registering. NSFAS-funded students do not pay it (confirm your award on myNSFAS), and you can apply for a first-fee postponement on the self-service portal if you cannot pay or are waiting on NSFAS. International students pay 75% of tuition and related costs before registering. 2027 amounts were not yet published. Source: Wits 2026 fees general information.
