Academic support
The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) offers free support: academic advising, academic skills workshops, tutoring, Supplemental Instruction (SI), peer mentoring, a First Year Navigator, eFundi support and, for distance students, PALS (Peer Academic Learning Support).
- Tutoring: attendance at tutorials is compulsory.
- Supplemental Instruction is voluntary ("encouraged"). It is free, led by trained peer leaders and run for high-risk modules, not for high-risk students. SI Online exists for selected modules.
- The Humanities Writing Centre helps with planning, sources and referencing but does not proofread or edit; book through the CTL support portal.
