Libraries and study spaces

Researched by the VarsityStart team from official university sources. Last checked 10 October 2026. How we check

Hours: the UJ library hours page lists weekdays 07:30 to 22:00, Saturdays 08:00 to 15:00, and closed on public holidays, with reduced hours in some periods. One campus page (Doornfontein) lists weekdays 07:30 to 16:30, so check the hours for your campus.
24-hour study spaces: UJ says every library has 24-hour study areas. Check which are open after hours on your campus.
Libraries are at Kingsway (Auckland Park), Bunting Road, Doornfontein and Soweto. Hours are revised annually.
