Academic support
Student Development and Support (SDS) offers free services including mentors and tutors (senior students giving academic and emotional support), profiling of first-time entrants to identify risk early, and a compulsory first-year module called Life Skills. If you are struggling an academic mentor or tutor may be assigned, and you can make an appointment at your learning site.
- Get help early: at TUT's June 2026 appeals-awareness event an SDS practitioner urged students to seek counselling early, saying counselling and study strategies can help students improve and avoid repeating modules. The Disability coordinator urged students to raise challenges as soon as they arise.
