Residences

You indicate that you want residence on the online application and should apply before the university's closing date for academic applications; late applications won't be considered for placement. Successful applicants are notified from November. TUT lists a R240 application fee for 2027 and a compulsory R1,200 advance payment before residence registration.

If you've been academically excluded

TUT runs exclusion appeals in a window at the start of the year, after final results. In 2026 the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Learning extended the deadline to 29 January and said it would be the final extension. Watch TUT's official notices and your student email in January, and ask your faculty office what you need to submit.

The rules on progression, exclusion and readmission are in the Students' Rules and Regulations.

Safety and emergencies

I couldn't find a published TUT emergency number. Pretoria campus's Campus Protection Services control room appears in TUT's staff directory as 012 382 5101 / 012 382 5102. Police: 10111. Ask your campus or residence for its security number when you arrive, and save it.
