What you pay before registering
- First payment (2026): R9,340 for South African citizens and permanent residents, before registration. NSFAS-funded students do not pay it (confirm your award on myNSFAS). International students pay 75% of tuition and related costs.
- Cannot pay, or waiting on NSFAS? Apply for a first-fee postponement on the self-service portal, once you have accepted your place.
- NSFAS confirmed in writing but not yet paid: you may sign an acknowledgement of debt (AOD).
- Residence: an initial instalment of R5,000 (2026) before admission, with exceptions for fully-funded students and hardship on approval. If you cannot afford it, ask for a residence payment postponement on the self-service portal.
- Old debt and re-registration: debt up to R10,000 does not stop you registering. Above that you need household income under R600,000, 50% of the debt paid, a signed online AOD and proof of income (IT34a or payslip). Otherwise you must settle in full.
- Payment plan: an interest-free plan by signing an AOD (household income under R600,000, or non-returning students). Sign before the due date, because missing more than two payments in a row cancels it. In 2026 the AOD dates were 30 June and 30 September.
- Full-year tuition was due by the end of June (2026). EFT payers should pay at least 4 days before registering.
- International students pay 75% of tuition and related costs plus a R6,970 international registration fee (2026).
- After registering: collect your Kudu card and activate your student email and Ulwazi.
- 2027 amounts were not yet published.
